Tom AlbertraniTom started out as a teenager walking hots and grooming horses for his uncle, John Abatemarco, who was a trainer in New York. A few years later he became an apprentice jockey in New Jersey and New York before deciding to switch gears and get into training as an assistant trainer to Mark Casse. Eventually, Tom became an assistant to trainer Bill Mott where he worked nine years as Mott's number one assistant and worked with champions such as Cigar and Theatrical. In 1995, Tom joined Godolphin racing as a top assistant where he played a major role in the development of top racehorses Street Cry (G1 Stephen Foster), Fantastic Light (G1 Breeders' Cup Turf), Imperial Gesture (G1 Beldame), and Sahkee (G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe). In 2005, Tom opened up a public stable and has quickly become a top trainer having campaigned graded stakes winners Bernardini (G1 Preakness), Balletto (G1 Frizette), Songster (G2 Woody Stephens), Deputy Glitters (G2 Ohio Derby), Gemswick Park (G3 Old Hat), Gozzip Girl (G2 Sands Point), and Criticism (G2 Sheepshead Bay). |
